Build Your Own Herb Drying Unit

Why would I want to grow and dry my own herbs?

I do ... and I am NOT a health or environmental "nut."  I grow my own to save money and for the health and safety of my family and pets.  I use dried herbs as an insect repellant for my family and pets, and as a natural insect repellant and fertilizer for my lawn and garden.

Herbs are easy to grow, take very little water, are almost impossible to kill, and many are perennial (come back every spring).  You can grow them anywhere; even in your kitchen!  And they are SO cheap !

Herbs, of course, are also great for cooking, medicinal or whatever you want to use them for.  If you have ever been to a health food store, you will see that almost every item is made from herbs.  But they are expensive ... so grow your own.  Sometimes herbs you buy in the market are just as full of pesticides as your insect repellant and lawn fertilizer.

Do you have a pet?  Do you use flea or tick repellant on your pet?  And then play with the pet?

What about your lawn and garden.  Do you use a fertilizer or pesticide on your lawn?  Do your children and pets play on that lawn?  And then carry the poison into your home onto your carpet and furniture?

All pesticides are poisons and may cause adverse health effects.  It should come as no surprise that the EPA has already identified several pesticides commonly used in lawn care as probable carcinogens (cancer causing).  Think about that the next time you watch your pet or children rolling around in the grass.  Think about that when they come into the house and flop down on the couch.

Some of the many uses for herbs are listed at the bottom of this page ... but FIRST ... Do we have a deal for you ...

Whether you use herbs for human consumption, repelling mosquitoes on a cool evening, fleas on your dog, or fertilizing your lawn, the herbs need to be processed in the correct way.  Our drying unit is the fastest, most efficient way to dry herbs. You should never use a microwave oven to dry herbs, as this can ruin the oils inside the herbs.

Not many can afford to purchase a drying unit, but they can find the wood to make one.

Pesticides are designed to destroy living organisms ! All pesticides are associated with some risk of harm to human health or the environment. Scientists and regulators know too little about pesticides and people's exposure to pesticides to offer assurances about pesticide safety.

As each generation of insects become more immune to pesticides, stronger and more potent insecticides are released.  In the meantime we humans are absorbing these chemicals as they permeate our homes, gardens and lawns and in turn we are depleting the quality of our health and the health of our pets. Many chemical pesticides kill the good bugs and bacteria that naturally reside in fertile soil.  More and more families and gardeners around the world are helping reverse this trend by using natural pest deterrents that have been used successfully for generations.
